For grant writing, the rules are different.
- You should use I and my
- You need to sell the research AND the researcher
- You make a promise
- Explain
- why the location was chosen
- Why now
- Where is the gap (problem-oriented)
- What your outcomes will be
- 3 peer reviewed papers, 2 conferences
- Persuasive -> I will keep my promise and fill a gap
- Story driven
- Not "and this, and this".
- Instead "This, therefore, but"
- Structure
- Intro/context = staging
- first 2-3 sentences are punch!
- Set-up the gap -> we know this, we don't know this
- Intro/context = staging
- Significance -> "I will/my research will provide/inform/influence"
- They evaluate scope, evidence of claims, and strengths of claims
