Now’s the part of the course where you think. Last episode, you drew the system for the world and your purpose.
Now, we're following the same format, go to the next page, divide it in two, get ready and go for another 20 minutes of thinking.
- Write bullet points of stories that changed the world, or your purpose.
- Then explore these stories by trying to understand what these stories mean. Are they stories of fear, or of hope?
- Write bullet points of anecdotes that changed the way you think about those things
- What views did it change for you?
- And if you have some time still, try to reframe these stories in a more positive way
And that's it.
And before I leave you, let me tell you my story: The story of Malcom Xavier.
I have a creator. He knows who I am, yet I don't know who he is. He's my creator, yet he's just a normal person. I am the result of his imagination.
My creator wanted to write a science fiction novel and I was to be the main character.
I wake up in a pod 1000 years in the future to the voice of Lidia. She tells me that I was reborn for a mission, but doesn't tell me what. First, she says, I need to understand the context of the current times. She tells me I can sit on this machine called the memory simulator to relive the stories and lives of people of the past.
So, that's what I do. I sit down and I literally become them. I see through their eyes, I feel what they feel, I think what they think. Through these memories, I experience the collapse of the society we know today. I see cataclysms, the impacts of climate change, massive waves of human migration and most societies being completely unprepared for what was coming. Reliving memories, I am powerless, just a spectator with no agency to do anything. I can only be the people that struggle through these very hard times - hard times that I know are caused by inaction from our own time. I see the impact of my own time onto the future, reliving the memories of the people whose fear and despair was caused by unsustainable system. It makes me reflect on what it means to be human in unstable time and my perception the society I grew up in. I had assumed that the society I lived in was just how it would ever be, but I was very wrong. Just like a serf in medieval time would never be able to imagine the 21st century, I would never have imagined how the world of the future looked like as it evolved.
After learning all this, I am still in the pod, and I ask Lidia why I had been reborn. She tells me I am to build a new society on this new planet. But I am confused. Why me? Why chose me, of all people?
Because I have published, in my past life a book called the book of Whys and a course called Ways of thinking. It could have changed the world, but it had been ignored. She tells me it had everything that society then needed to start thinking differently, but it didn't catch on - buried under the million of other attention grabbing content online.
She tells me that I am a forgotten prophet. I deny it, saying that I am not. I'm just a normal guy. Prophets are just normal people, she tells me. I am a prophet in the sense that I could foresee change and that I created something that could have changed the course of humanity. I told her I cannot do this alone. She tells me that I'm not. There are many of us that have also self-selected for this.
My creator knew my purpose, but he was not satisfied how he was portraying me in his writing. And so, on a moment of clarity, he decided that if he wanted to write me, Malcom Xavier, he had to understand me. And to understand me, he had to partially become me. He had to become the normal guy that published a course called Ways of thinking and a book called the book of Whys. All of this so he could finish his story.
I am but the imagination of someone that became reality. He's the creator and I'm the prophet. But again, all of this is just a story. He's not really the creator, and I'm not really a prophet. Interpret the story as you want, but be mindful not to see patterns where there are none - just like the Beatles fan taught that Paul McCarney was dead.
And here's the thing, both of us are just normal people. We don't really know what will happen in the future, or if whatever we're doing can be useful to prevent any of it. We're just hopeful that it is. But here's the thing, many prophecies become self-fulfilling prophecies if enough people believe in it.
You can choose to believe this story, or to tell yourself the same story. You can be your own creator and prophet. Just remember that it's a story.
If you haven't started the project yet, it's time for you to start. You are a prophet too now, if you wish. You can be, like me, reborn in the future, and asked to rebuild society from scratch. You've self-selected for that mission. All you have to do for now is to think, expand your mind.
Here's a quick poem:
Stories old and stories new,
Shape the lens you're looking through.
Watch the tales that drift your way—
Awareness, friend, will light the way.
Remember: We are humans, we can do errors. But we are humans, we can think critically. Please use your blessing.
